well, I had completely forgotten about my DA account, been too long and been busy with the shop, which has been slower this year than last year due to the economy being in the tank (thanks libs and ndp for not doing anything about it) but I am hoping to get back into it, the crafting part. Got a new propane forge that I am hoping to finally get fired up (3 years after I got it) and get crafting some knives and axes and stuff, I hope. The shop is doing ok, but it could always be doing better, still can't afford to hire anyone so I am here pretty much by myself with some help from friends every chance they can. I have some great friends, but I understand they can't be here as much as I need, so I am working myself to death, so that is lots of fun. A new shop opened up about a year and a half after I opened just down the street from me, and I had heard they opened up so close just to try and drive me out and take my business when they found out I was doing really good. They are from calgary so they have the backing of another store to help them out, but I am holding my own against them, and from what I have been told, I have a lot more shooters on a regular basis than they do, so yay

anyway, be on the lookout for more stuff to be posted here again soon, I am going to be trying to put together an archery calendar with some lovely ladies and perhaps a few gents as well, so will post some pics from that too, should I ever get it going

so it's finally coming about, I open my shop in about 3-4 weeks, full of archery goodness, and some of my more archery related leatherwork as well... 10 lanes, full service pro shop, might even put some medieval related products in there such as swords for the SCA crowd, and who knows if someone else wants to buy one or two to look good on their wall... let me tell you the stress is amazing, barely have enough money to order stock, and won't be able to hire staff at first so I better be busy as hell so I can afford to pay myself and hire one or two people to help me out and get them trained... anyone wanna be an investor?

well, I hope this is working, an investor promised me 50,000 to start my own archery lanes/shop, so now I have to wait for his letter of intent and then take that to the bank to hopefully get another 50-100k and then I'll be in business! I could actually have my very own shop in the next 2-3 months... I'm even going to look at a building today to see what will work...

so I'm going to be going into a medieval "faire" as a merchant towards the end of May, but I need to decide what I'm going to sell, leather work, chainmaille, or some blacksmithing stuff... now, I just got my forge so I don't know how much stuff I can make between now and then, but I would like to take a mix of all 3, but I don't know if I can or not because there are only 9 tables, and they only want 1 vendor of each type there... choices choices choices...

so after 6+ years in my current job as the archery manager and head tech and trainer I was terminated without cause today, no reason given, just a form letter and a fuck you very much... the number 1 archery department in the company, the main repair depot, and now they are pretty much left with one guy who knows everything, and he probably won't be staying either for very long... so needless to say... anyone want to buy anything?
